Events will be held across Cardinia Shire for the community to enjoy this Australia Day, Sunday 26 January, including the flagship Cardinia Shire Australia Day Event at Cardinia Cultural Centre.
The Cardinia Shire Australia Day Event will feature the shire’s annual Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards, and will be followed community activities coordinated by Lakeside Residents Group.
The day’s official proceedings will commence at 11am with the welcoming of 100 of our newest citizens in a special Australia Day citizenship ceremony.
Council will then proudly present the Australia Day 2020 Award winners for Cardinia Shire Citizen, Senior Citizen, Young Citizen and Community Event of the Year
Lakeside Residents Group will host free activities for the community from 12pm to 4pm, with the generous support of local businesses and organisations.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said Australia Day activities will be a great opportunity to recognise and honour everyone who calls Australia, and Cardinia Shire, home.
“In Cardinia Shire we are blessed to have a vibrant and diverse community – I believe that our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and contributes to making our shire such a welcoming community in which to live,” Cr Springfield said.
“On Australia Day, we acknowledge our Australia Day award nominees and winners for their contribution to our community, and thank them for their continued efforts and community spirit. We also welcome our newest Australian citizens and thank them for choosing to call our shire home.”
