Council’s Seniors Week Planning Committee is excited to release the 2020 Cessnock City Seniors Festival program of events which is action-packed with arts, culture, music, fitness, learning, history and special interest events.
The 2020 Cessnock City Seniors Festival will run from Wednesday 12 to Wednesday 26 February and the theme this year is, ‘Celebrating positive ageing for 50+’.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is encouraging locals to pick up a copy of the program and start planning how they’d like to be involved over the two-week Festival.
“Each year, our local Seniors Festival program gets bigger and better and this year is no different! There is so much diversity in the events this year and I’m certain every local senior across the region is sure to find something they will enjoy.”
“The Festival is a wonderful opportunity for local seniors to not only have fun and try something new, but to meet new people and make ongoing connections with like-minded people. There is also a great opportunity this year for inter-generational connections with events that also involve local young people,” added Cr Pynsent.
Festival highlights this year include the Edwardian House Party and High Tea, the Samaritans Grand Summer Splash at Cessnock Pool and free films and concerts at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre.
Once again, Cessnock City Libraries is providing a massive program of events throughout the 2020 Seniors Festival, including the Heart of Stories Tour, Library Lovers Day Morning Tea, Friday Arvo at the Flicks, family history research, gardening workshops, chair Pilates and more!
Programs can be picked up at Council’s Customer Service Centre, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries and participating venues. The program is also available online at www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/SeniorsFestival.
