The panel offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to help shape the future of Bayside. Everyone is welcome - in particular we need more residents of Brighton East and Hampton East, males and young people to get involved.
The broadly representative panel will meet over three days (on weekends) in late February and March 2020 to plan for the future of our municipality and help create our Bayside 2050 Community Vision. Participants will be paid to recognise their time commitment.
What's involvedMade up of approximately 30 everyday residents, the panel will broadly represent the Bayside community in terms of age, gender and place of residence. The panellists will be briefed by futurists and experts on challenges facing Bayside and our community more broadly to inform their deliberations on issues such as:
climate change and the environment affordable housing sustainable transport infrastructure planning our neighbourhoods for population growth and more. The panel will respond to the question: “The world is changing, and life in Bayside will be very different in 30 years’ time. What’s our vision for Bayside in 2050 and what do we need to prioritise in order to get there?”
Panel members who attend all three sessions will receive a $300 gift card to recognise their commitment to their community.
The panel will not be like a traditional public meeting where loud voices can dominate. This will be a genuine, open process conducted by independent moderators where all participants including will be valued and heard.
