SUP Tonic Australia hosted a litter cleanup in December to clean the banks of the Swan River. This was one of many cleanups the group conducts throughout the year.
People on stand up paddle boards left from Sandy Beach Reserve, cleaning up the hard-to-reach spots along the foreshore between Bassendean and Maylands.
In just two hours, the group collected more than a cubic meter of waste.
Material collected included plastics, metal, glass and polystyrene with enough shoes found to make a category of their own!
The Town of Bassendean is working towards reducing littering and illegal dumping.
