This feasibility study, jointly funded by the City of Ballarat and State government, is currently out to tender to identify an appropriate consultant to undertake the study. Tender closes on 5 Feb 2020
The intention of the study is to:
recognise and respond to the complex nature of water activity the municipality at Lake Wendouree understanding current and future facility needs for both unstructured (active participation) and structured physical participation plus elite verses community local base activity. The feasibility study will be a strategic level document informing Council on future planning and provision of new or retro -fitted facility (hub) on Lake Wendouree supporting a diverse range of sustainable sport and recreation pursuits for both structured and unstructured sport addressing identified community needs and contributing to the overall liveability, prosperity, sustainability and accountability of the City of Ballarat. It is to provide strategic alignment and articulate how the need for this hub will fill a gap and how it links to strategic planning already undertaken and all relevant master planning such as the Lake Wendouree master plan The feasibility study will concentrate on assets owned by the City but will also consider facilities owned/managed by other parties when considering retro-fitting an existing facility. e.g. School or private commercial facilities considering the possible partnerships and/or collaboration that may be required to meet identified community needs.
