Council will implement level four water restrictions in Bombala and Delegate from 12pm Monday 27 January.

Due to the prolonged dry weather conditions, flows to the Coolumbooka and Delegate Rivers have decreased, and there has been significant water use for fire fighting efforts. As a result, there is less available water at the Bombala and Delegate water treatment plants and reservoirs.

Level four water restrictions will be enforced until further notice.

Level four water restrictions aim to eliminate all but essential outdoor water use.

In addition to the outdoor water restrictions, Council is urging residents to minimise their water use indoors, where possible, through the following measures: keeping showers under five minutes, turning the tap off while brushing teeth, fixing leaking taps and toilets, and only running washing machines and dishwashers when full.

These restrictions will apply to all properties connected to the Bombala and Delegate water supply schemes. More stringent restrictions may be imposed should conditions fail to improve.

Under Section 637 of the Local Government Act 1993, a person who wilfully or negligently wastes or misuses water from the public water supply, or causes any such water to be wasted, is guilty of an offence for which the maximum penalty is a fine of $2,200. To apply for an exemption, email [email protected]
