The recently upgraded Gembrook Leisure Park was yesterday officially opened by the Hon Jason Wood MP, Harriet Shing MP and Cardinia Shire Council.
The official opening follows upgrades to the park which included a new adventure playground, shelters and barbecues, a multi-use (basketball, netball and soccer) sports court and a state-of-the-art skate park.
The project was jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions fund ($500,000), the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs fund ($500,000), and Cardinia Shire Council ($500,000).
The upgrades to the park include:
play space that includes accessible play elements, and adventure play options including flying fox new skate park with hangout space passive lawn area with barbecue shelters and picnic tables pathway connections into and through the park additional sealed accessible parking on Beenak East Road refurbished public toiletsCardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jeff Springfield thanked community members for their input into the park’s design, and acknowledged the support from the Australian Government and the Victorian Government.
“The new Gembrook Leisure Park is a fantastic space for people of all ages from Gembrook and the surrounding areas.
“Council sincerely thanks the community members who helped us create such an incredible place for our community to enjoy, as well as both the federal and state governments – in particular the local members Jason Wood and Harriet Shing for their support,” he said.
