Three time TV Week Gold Logie winner Rove McManus hopes to bring joy to people’s lives in light of all the tragedy.
"There’s a lot going on at the moment with troubles in the outside world …and sometimes we feel helpless ... so I hope people can leave their cares at the door and come in to have a great time," Rove said.
The much loved Aussie icon is returning to Canterbury-Bankstown’s fourth annual Comedy All Stars Gala, this year alongside other home grown talent and international comedians.
Rove said the Gala has always been a magnificent night of comedy that showcases great performers at an amazing venue. And this year will be no different.
"First and foremost the Bryan Brown Theatre is an amazing venue. It might not seem like it, but it is a big event in a prestigious space," he said.
"I’ve performed everywhere, from Melbourne to the US, but I think it’s absolutely important to make sure we are sharing comedy in our own backyard."
He praised the important tradition of discovering and growing local talent in Canterbury-Bankstown.
"I will be surrounded by some equally gifted performers, so I am honoured to be able to round off the night with a bang. It’s always such a great time and nothing beats the unity and electricity in that room -- it’s what stand-up comedy is all about."
The Bryan Brown Theatre will play host to the star-studded event on Friday 31 January at 8pm.
Mayor Khal Asfour said there’s nothing quite like a night of live stand-up comedy, especially when the line-up is "this good".
"It’s a really fun way to forget all your worries and indulge in some wholesome belly laughs with family and friends," he said.
"One of the best things about the event is people can experience world-class talent at a really affordable price of just $30."
Audiences can expect two hours of knee-slapping shows from:
Rove McManus; Cameron Knight; Ciel; Christian Elderfield (UK); Anthony Salame; Simon Kennedy; and Umit Bali.Tickets can be purchased at the Bryan Brown Theatre box office during the week between 9am-4pm, or online at cb.city/bryanbrowntheatre
