Being connected to the world through technology is very important in today’s technological age and libraries are great places to connect to technology and to other people in the community. Head along to your local library during Senior’s Week to see how you can become connected to the wider world.
Be Connected is an Australian Government, nationwide initiative empowering all Australians to thrive in a digital world. “This Australian government initiative to assist people with their digital skills, particularly the senior members of the community is a program that libraries are well placed to deliver,” said Mayor Ray Thompson.
Through funding available as part of this program, Lithgow Library and the branches at Portland and Wallerawang will be hosting community engagement events to help people get connected, and to also learn about the other services that are available at the libraries.
As part of the community engagement sessions the Lithgow Lions Club will be providing a free sausage sizzle at each branch. Library staff will be on hand to help you join the library, show you the services available and get you started on the Be Connected program. The program and barbeque is open to everyone from the community not just seniors. No bookings are required for these free events.
The Be Connected community engagement events will take place on the following dates between 12:00pm and 2:00pm;
Lithgow Library Learning Centre, 157 Main Street Lithgow – Thursday 13 February 2020 Portland Library, Williwa Street Portland – Tuesday 18 February 2020 Wallerawang Library, Main Street Wallerawang – Wednesday 19 February 2020
