More moderate falls of rain are expected for Mount Isa in the coming days after good rain on the weekend. Tuesday's forecast is for cloudy weather and a high (80%) chance of showers with falls of between 4-15mm. There is also the chance of a thunderstorm with possible heavy falls. Wednesday's forecast is similar but with falls of up to 25mm. There could also be 10mm on Thursday before it dries up next weekend. Following big rain on the Australia Day weekend it is good news for water users with local reservoirs up over 20% on last week. As of Monday Mount Isa Water Board say Lake Moondarra capacity is 71.2% and Lake Julius is 89.5%. Mount Isa had 84mm on Sunday and another 15mm so far on Monday. The Gulf area had a thunderstorm warning Monday morning. Normanton had 36,2mm on Saturday and another 35.0mm so far Monday. Burketown had 32mm on Saturday. Boulia got 76.0mm on Saturday and another 35.4mm so far Monday. The Landsborough Highway is closed between Kynuna and Cloncurry due to water over the road at Bull Creek and McKinlay River. Other roads closed include Urandangi North and South Rd, Gregory Downs Camooweal Road, Doomadgee to Hells Gate and Hells Gate to NT border. The Grace St bridge over the highway remains the only crossing open in Mount Isa but water is receding. Camooweal got 141mm on Australia Day. There could also be 10mm on Thursday before it dries up next weekend.
