Level 4 water restrictions are in effect across Eurobodalla, with the water storage at Deep Creek Dam now below 50 percent capacity.
Under level 4 water restrictions all outdoor use is banned, except
Watering gardens with watering cans or buckets filled directly from the tap, andWashing and rinsing private vehicles on grass with buckets filled directly from the tap, between 6-8am and 6-8pm.Variations may apply for some businesses. Emergency services continue to be exempt from all restrictions.
Eurobodalla Councils director of infrastructure Warren Sharpe said the shire was in unprecedented times, using precious water to fight fires.
“Level 4 water restrictions are necessary to ensure we have enough potable water until we get significant rainfall,” Mr Sharpe said.
“We’ve experienced how it feels to have no power. We do not want to experience how it feels to have no water. Extra effort in saving water is necessary so we don’t need to go to the much stricter Level 5 restrictions in the future.
“There will be ash from the fires for some time. Washing down houses and decks only wastes valuable water we need for drinking, bathing and protecting lives and property.”
