Works to replace the ceiling at the Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre (EWMAC) are now complete with the pool set to open Saturday, 1 February.

Regulatory and Community Services General Manager, Paul McKenzie said works to replace the interior ceiling, along with insulation upgrades, went to schedule and the pool will now be back in action.

“The solar panels have now been reinstalled on the centre’s roof and the pool heating systems fully operational,” Mr McKenzie said.

“The works were undertaken in January as it is the quietest month of the year with no learn to swim classes, competitions or school group activities. General public usage is also very low in January.”

New and improved diving blocks will also be installed by Tuesday, 11 February, in time for the first swimming carnival of the year.

“The new starting blocks will meet modern safety guidelines are better suited for competition,” Mr McKenzie said.

“Pool lane usage has also been reassessed with lanes six, seven and eight now solely dedicated to public recreation and lap swimming.”

“It is great to see so many centre improvements that will benefit our community.”
