Round 2 of the Mayor’s Relief Fund provides more help to Wollondilly residents

Under Round 2 of the Mayor’s Relief Fund an additional $86,697 has been issued to 26 local families to provide them with much needed bushfire recovery assistance.

The Mayor’s Relief Fund, set up to support residents impacted by the Green Wattle Creek Fire, has now provided a total of 135 local families with financial support of close to $178,000.

The fund has enabled residents to replace whitegoods, remove dangerous trees, replace water tanks and purchase water and feed for livestock.

Round 3 will close on Friday 31 January and targets Not for Profit Community and Charitable Organisations with funds up to $10,000 available for programs which aim to support residents impacted by the fire event. Round 4 will open on Monday 3 February and close Friday 14 February for up to $5000 to go directly to residents.

Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “Thanks to the generosity of our community, business and industry the fund has been able to assist numerous families in need as a result of fire activity in our area.”

“This is about getting the funds into the hands of those that need it the most, as quickly as possible so they can get back on their feet.”

“Every dollar donated is going directly to fire impacted residents.” He added, “I would encourage Community and Charitable organisations that can provide services and support to residents who are recovering from the bushfire event to apply for financial support now.”
