There is no better way to enjoy the region’s parks during February and March than with an outing to Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) free Summer Tunes program starting Sunday, 2 February.
TRC Tourism and Events portfolio leader Cr Geoff McDonald said the Summer Tunes program provides free, live music at popular parks across the Toowoomba region.
“The Summer Tunes program is a great way to relax with friends and family, so grab a picnic blanket, some snacks, a hat and settle in for some downtime,” Cr McDonald said.
“Concerts feature local musicians from a variety of music genres and can be enjoyed on weekends throughout February and March.
“Summer is a great time of year to enjoy a morning playing with your children or grandchildren in Queens Park or roll out a picnic with friends at the other venues while listening to a wide range of performers.
“Summer Tunes are as much a part of summer as cicadas, sizzling barbecues, backyard cricket and the buzz of lawnmowers.”
“The opening week line-ups also includes the catchy croons of the family band, The Hobsons as part of The Big Bands theme at Picnic Point Picnic Point and get your toes tapping of 2 Timing at Laurel Bank Park from 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm.”
TRC Parks and Recreation Services portfolio leader Cr Joe Ramia said Council’s civic parks and gardens offered a perfect setting for summer holiday escapes with ideal picnic settings and plenty of playgrounds for children to enjoy.
“It is a great showcase of talented musicians set against the spectacular backdrop of our magnificent civic parks,” Cr Ramia said.
“Our region’s parks are a top tourist drawcard at any time of year, and this is an extra reason to head outdoors and see the beauty of the region’s recreation areas.
