The City of Ballarat has relocated the Buninyong Pass on Glass site to a more convenient location at the Buninyong Recreation Reserve.
The new site is accessible from the Forest Street entrance and is only 450 metres east of the current site behind the Buninyong BP Service Station and newsagency.
Council will run both sites until early to mid-next week, with signs re-directing residents to the new location.
The new site is in response to an overwhelming response to the Pass on Glass initiative in Buninyong, with more than 30 tonnes of glass collected between 30 September and 31 December 2019.
That is approximately 40-45% of the glass generated by Ballarat (and Buninyong) residents at this time of the year.
The City had already doubled the Pass on Glass site capacity at Buninyong from a 1.5 to 3 cubic metre skip and increased service frequency from 2 to 4 times per week.
The new site at the Recreation Reserve will allow for further expansion to include a second skip if needed.
Council’s waste team has also reported that glass being collected across its Pass n Glass sites is very clean. So, thank you Ballarat and Buninyong residents – keep up the great work!
