An opportunity for residents to participate in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Tech Savvy training has opened up at Canterbury Bankstown Libraries.

The training is aimed at those with very little or no experience of technology. It includes basic introductory courses on the use of computers, the internet, and email.

Mayor Khal Asfour said the training will be fun, hands-on, and designed to assist with everyday online tasks.

“Whether you need some assistance with your smartphone, tablet or laptop, or just want to learn how to use features like video chat and Google Maps, these sessions will give you the direction and help you need in a friendly and fun environment,” he said.

“Helping locals become comfortable with these new products will allow them to develop new skills and will open them to a range of new opportunities and give them the confidence to use future technologies more readily.”

Riverwood, Campsie and Bankstown Libraries will be hosting a series of the workshops throughout the next four months, incorporating activities that will assist with computer confidence.

Bilingual teachers from the Ethnic Community Council will be running the training in 2020, offering the following languages:
