Residents in Canterbury-Bankstown now have access to a new and improved online site to make it easier to have your say on council’s community projects.

The new Have Your Say webpage is home to all council projects currently on-going or open for public feedback and can now be easily searched by suburb or category.

Improved features are more inclusive with an upgraded translation capacity for over 100 languages, making it easier to provide comment and feedback.

New accessibility options also include a screen reader which reads text aloud in over thirty languages and colour contrast options to reduce eye strain for those with colour blindness.

Locals can sign up to receive email alerts for new projects that interest them in their suburb or in areas of interest – from arts and culture, to community, or parks and recreation.

The newer and cleaner webpage design was created to make it easier for anyone to navigate on any device including tablets and mobile devices.

Mayor Khal Asfour said the new webpage was just one part of CBCity’s commitment to listen to members of the community and actively engage on key projects.

"It is vital that the community have their say on projects, from dog parks to road upgrades, so we deliver projects that serve the needs of the community," he said.

"I am pleased that we continually improve our accessibility options, because we have an incredibly diverse community and we value feedback from all our residents.

"Over the past 12 months, we have had 2,750 submissions on 33 projects, which has guided council in decision making, and we look forward to the feedback that we will continue to receive this year."

The improved Have Your Say page is just one way in which CBCity engages with the public. Members of the community can also contribute by participating at local pop-ups, workshops and forums.

Council staff can also be seen door knocking with local residents on projects and issues that may affect them directly to hear their views.
