Humanity’s fight against poverty and social justice requires strength, selflessness and diligence, which is exactly what Human Appeal Australia (HAA) prides themselves on.
The charity organisation was today named 2020 Canterbury-Bankstown’s Organisation of the Year, for its work across the globe and in Australia.
For the last 28 years, HAA has assisted over 2,500 families globally by investing in real, effective solutions including:
Providing relief to those in emergency situations;Offering adequate funds to orphans;Building water wells for clean drinking water;Contributing food aid to under nourished communities;Offering medical aid to those suffering from illnesses; andProviding education and vocational training.Head of Community Care Amin El-Bureeny said HAA is an organisation where all efforts are concentrated on making Australia and the world a better place.
“It is a great acknowledgement for the long history of work HAA has initiated to assist those in need,” he said.
“Our stakeholders are the amazing people behind the success of the organisation, and Canterbury-Bankstown is home to many of them... It is sensational to be recognised for your work in your home city.
“The most rewarding part of working at HAA is seeing the smiles of the sponsored orphans and the gratitude you see in the faces of people who have helped.”
Mayor Khal Asfour praised HAA for its charitable commitment to both the local and international community.
“Almost 600 million people live in extreme poverty around the world, living on $1.90 or less a day,” he said.
“Organisations, like HAA make a huge difference in the lives of these people because of the service, support and joy they provide.
“HAA has stood out at some of the communities most vulnerable times, making them the perfect candidate for Organisation of the Year.”
