Plans for a $93 million revamp of Westfield Liverpool have been approved by the Sydney Western City Planning Panel, offering new commercial and entertainment offerings and adding to the changing skyline of Sydney’s third CBD.
The redevelopment will include nearly 10,000 square metres of A-grade office space and an 8000 square-metre retail, entertainment and leisure precinct.
“The Westfield Liverpool redevelopment will add to the retail and entertainment options for people who live, work and study in Liverpool,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“The development will anchor the northern end of the Liverpool city centre and help to enhance our night-time economy.”
The 11-storey Westfield development is one of a number of major projects transforming Liverpool’s skyline.
Anchoring the opposite end of the Liverpool city centre will be Liverpool Civic Place, a $400 million mixed-use precinct being jointly developed by Liverpool City Council and Built.
The proposal, currently under assessment, will feature new Council offices, Council chambers, an early education centre, a new state-of-the-art city library, commercial and retail spaces, a hotel or student accommodation building and parking.
Designed by FJMT architects, Liverpool Civic Place on Scott Street will provide new public spaces, community facilities and job opportunities for residents while attracting more commercial investment into the city.
“Complementing the significant developments in Liverpool is Council’s detailed Public Domain Master Plan, which paves the way to a greener, brighter, more vibrant and active city centre,” Mayor Waller said.
“The plan builds on our city’s great bones and will help Council to transform Liverpool into a city of the future.”
The Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan is on public exhibition until Friday 28 February and the community is encouraged to visit listens.liverpool.nsw.gov.au to have its say.
