Condobolin Picnic Races on again

It’s racing season in Lachlan Shire again and first off the starting post is the 2020 Condobolin Picnic Races, followed by the Tottenham Picnic Races on March 7, then the Tullibigeal Picnic Races on March 28.

Further details of the Tottenham and Tullibigeal events will be released closer to the dates.

Considered to be one of the Central West’s leading country picnic race meets, this year’s Condobolin Picnic Races will be held on Saturday February 22 at the Condobolin Race Track in Diggers Avenue.

The Condo Race is one of the largest community events on the Lachlan Shire calendar and was recently awarded the Australia Day Condobolin Event of the Year.

This year’s program runs over six races with prize money of $8000 for the main event – the hotly contested Royal Hotel Condobolin Picnic Cup.

A stellar line up is expected, with horses travelling from across the Central West and wider region to compete on the day.

If you feel like a flutter, TAB facilities will be available at the track and local racing identity Col Hodges will be calling the races throughout the afternoon.

If you want something a bit fancy, treat yourself to a private marquee with entertainment from live band Duble during the afternoon and evening.

This is an ideal way to entertain friends, family or work colleagues in your own private venue where you can enjoy the day in the comfort you know you deserve!

Marquees are available for $150 and can be arranged through the Condobolin Picnic Race Club. All marquees are 3m x 3m and include a table and chairs. Due to licensing restrictions the marquee area is strictly no BYO alcohol, but alcohol is available from the bar. 

Bookings for marquees will be taken until Friday 14th February – so get in quick.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a race day without a display of trackside fashion. As part of the off-track entertainment, the annual Fashions on the Field contest will be held.

There are five fashion titles up for grabs this year, including Miss Fashions on the Field, Most Outstanding Millinery, Most Elegant Lady, Best Dressed Gentleman and the Best Dressed Country Couple.

Gates for the event will open at 12 noon on the day.
