Central Highlands Regional Council and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority met with representatives from community, government agencies, non-for profits and media to workshop the region’s Local Disaster Recovery Plan (LDRP).
The Queensland State Reconstruction Authority facilitated the workshop with the objective of implementing a disaster recovery plan that meets not only state government policies and procedures but local needs.
Council’s Coordinator Disaster Management and Community Resilience Glenn Bell said the collaborative disaster planning was important.
‘When it comes to recovering from a disaster, the strategic approach has five streams including health and wellbeing, building, roads and infrastructure, environmental and economy,’ Mr Bell said.
‘With stakeholders from all streams and the private and public sector, we ensure that everyone’s input is included for the best possible outcome for our communities.
‘Being prepared is the key, not only during a disaster, but also for recovering from one.’
