Are you interested in being a field naturalist and participating in, or leading, citizen scientist programs in the Macedon Ranges?
The Macedon Ranges is home to more than 1500 species of plants and animals, including several threatened species. Monitoring of these species can provide land managers with important information on changes that are occurring.
Council is investigating the idea of initiating a local Macedon Ranges Field Naturalist Group to help undertake flora and fauna monitoring in the local region.
The group could undertake a variety of activities such as surveys for rare and threatened species as well as public events that raise awareness about the plants and animals in the shire.
Come along to a public meeting, from 7pm to 8pm, at the Woodend Community Centre on Tuesday 3 March, to hear more detail about the types of flora and fauna activities that people can participate in and the steps required to form a local field naturalist group. Formation of the group will depend on the level of interest at the meeting.
A light supper will be provided and families are welcome.
Bookings are required.
