In 2020 Ballarat Swap Meet and Nitro Circus are on the same weekend. They both provide packaging and leveraging opportunities to retain locals and increase tourism in Ballarat as there is more to see and do over one weekend. As of 6 February the expected attendance at Nitro Circus is 9,000. The redeveloped of Mars Stadium continues to attract more  interest from a broad spectrum of event organisers, primarily within the sports event segment but also general entertainment as well. Nitro Circus is a great example of an event more along the non-traditional sporting mode.

In 2020 Mars Stadium will host the following events:

AFL matches x 2 A League matches x 4 Super Rugby x 1 Nitro Circus Ballarat FNL, Central Highlands FNL and BFLNL Women’s and Junior Grand Final events All North Ballarat City and GWR Rebels NAB Home Matches Vic Country Interleague match AFL Victoria NAB League special events VFL Home and Away match Coburg Vs Footscray Plus training sessions for local teams almost every week

The City of Ballarat continues to work closely with local community venue users and new promoters to leverage this great facility for the benefit of community of Ballarat – providing major event access locally for Ballarat and the broader region – whilst at the same time ensuring we can cater for local community needs. It's a balance that it is important and valuable to Ballarat.  To continue the development and capacity to provide a greater experience at Mars Stadium further improvements to the Stadium amenities for patrons are currently being planned and have been funded by a $6.6milion election commitment.
