Lithgow Council has arranged a free service to collect cars destroyed by the recent bushfires. The commencement date will be advised following a registration of interest process.
A metal recycling contractor has been engaged to collect cars that are able to be taken to the road verge in front of the property. Vehicles cannot exceed 3 tonnes in weight as these cannot be lifted. The contractor may also not be able to take the vehicles that are:
• severely damaged and appropriate anchor points are not available • in otherwise poor condition (e.g. covered in soil etc.)
Where the contractor is unable to collect due to the condition of the vehicle Council is willing to work with the property owner to find other options. The pick-up is not intended to circumvent any process in place by insurance companies where vehicles are insured and the maximum number of vehicles per property that can be collected is six (6).
Please contact Council’s Customer Service Office on (02) 6354 9999 to register your interest for this free service.
