Council is proud to announce the successful applicants of the 2020 Cardinia Shire Youth Council Learning and Leadership Program.
The nine young people, aged between 16 and 21, will spend 11 months participating in the program, which gives members the opportunity to gain insight into local government, as well as building their leadership skills.
Participants were chosen for their leadership qualities, their desire to help build a stronger local community, their interest in having a say on local issues that affect young people, as well as their interest in local government.

facilitate an election to elect a Chair and Deputy Chair visit Parliament House attend and run monthly meetings debate against Councillors and Council officers attend local community events be supported to develop and achieve group and individual goals for the year.Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield congratulated this year’s participants on their selection and looks forward to working with the group throughout the year.
“The Youth Council Learning and Leadership Program is a fantastic opportunity to foster the brilliant young leaders in our community and I cannot wait to see what new ideas our 2020 members have to offer,” Cr Springfield said.
