On Monday February 3, Tottenham Home and Community Care (HACC) held its first ever Bake Off at the Tottenham Hall.
There was a good turnout for the event with a number of budding bakers from the Youth Club and HACC entering the competition. The morning was attended by HACC clients who enjoyed a nice morning tea organised by Charna Starr from Condobolin HACC and Kristy Simpson from Tottenham HACC.
“We had a good number of people come along and enjoy morning tea and a chat,” said Kristy. “Everyone who came along enjoyed their morning out and hopefully we can have another one next year. The outcome of the day was very positive.”
A number of clients baked their favourite foods – including some delicious cakes, cream puffs, quiches and cupcakes.
To judge the Bake Off, each person chose their top three plates, votes were counted and three winners announced.
June Colley took out first place honours with her deliciously tempting Cream Puffs. Karen Moroney’s heavenly sour cream cake came in a close second, followed by Maddi Loftus’ cunningly delightful Cheese Cake in a Jar.
Lachlan Shire Mayor John Medcalf OAM, Council Director of Corporate and Community Services Karen Peglar, and Administrative Officer Dominique Nagle attended the morning tea and had a pleasant time chatting with HACC clients.
Another special guest was Mrs Katie O’Brien from Aussie Helpers. She spoke about the important support the program provides to community members, including staying in touch with hundreds of farming families to ensure their wellbeing through the tough times.
HACC hopes to hold another bake off next year or something similar during the winter months later this year.
