Move over Saint Valentine, because 14 February is also Library Lovers’ Day and Wollondilly Library in Picton will be hosting a celebratory morning tea from 10am.
Mayor Matthew Deeth said: “Library Lovers’ Day is a chance for members of the community to reconnect with the library, so I encourage everyone to pay the library a visit and find out what great services and events are on offer.”
As part of the festivities, if you come into Wollondilly Library on Friday 14 February and tell staff in 25 words or less why you love your library, you can go in the draw to win a dinner for two at George IV Inn.
Kids can get involved as well. They just need to write down why they love their library, for a chance to win a voucher for The Toy Cottage in Picton.
The Library Lovers’ Day initiative is coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and aims to raise the profile of the services which libraries offer.
Australia’s public libraries provide quality information services that support lifelong learning, significantly impacting the cultural and information industry.
