Gannawarra Shire Council’s childhood immunisation rates continue to exceed national and Victorian averages.
Recently released National Immunisation Program data showed that as of 31 December 2019, all children living in the Gannawarra aged between 24 and 63 months were fully immunised, with 96.67 per cent of children aged 12 to 15 months fully immunised.
These figures once again exceed the Victoria and Australian averages for children in each of the respective age categories.
“Once again, achieving a 100 per cent rate in two of the three immunisation age groups is a great result,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Council’s efforts in continuing to maintain immunisation rates that are above the national and Victorian average reflect the genuine and sustained effort across Council’s Community Health, Maternal and Child Health and Children Service teams.
“The results also reflect the strong relationship we maintain with local families with children and our partnership with other local health providers.”
Parents and guardians can keep up to date with their child’s immunisations due dates by checking their child’s green health book and downloading the Victorian Government’s VaxOnTime app or by checking their MyGov account.
