Hot and sunny conditions return to North West Queensland this week. Tuesday will see a maximum temperature of 41 degrees with only a five percent chance of rain. The chance of rain dips to zero for the following three days before rising to 20 percent next Monday. The temperatures are also rising and a possible cyclone won't affect the inland. Maximums of 43 are forecast for Friday to Monday. Major flooding is continuing on the Georgina River at Marion Downs between Bedourie and Boulia. Moderate flood levels (3.5m) are expected at Bedourie on Eyre Creek in the next few days. On the Flinders, river levels at Walkers Bend will remain around the major flood level and above the Burke Development Road Bridge until at least the middle of this week. Showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf are possible for the next few days which may result in small river and creek rises, however no significant rainfall is expected. A weak monsoon trough extends across the Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York Peninsula and into the northern Coral Sea. Normanton had 22.2mm of rain on Sunday and 21.8mm on Sunday.
