Equality on the menu for International Women's Day breakfast

A popular radio presenter and a local business leader will help Gannawarra Shire Council celebrate International Women’s Day next month.

Following on from last year’s successful event, Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library will host a free breakfast on Friday, 6 March from 7.30am.

“International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #EachforEqual, which recognises that an equal world is an enabled world.”

This year’s headline speaker is Kate Meade, co-host of 3SH’s The Morning Rush radio program and Women of Influence – a podcast that finds and shares the inspiring stories of incredible women.

One of the 2018 Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence, Kate is the founder of the Victorian Dance Festival – an all-inclusive, all-styles, non-competitive dance event.

AWMA Water Control Solutions’ Administration and Finance Officer, Toni Kelly will provide a local perspective, with the Cohuna resident to speak about working in a locally-based, internationally successful business.

“Kate and Toni will inspire those in attendance with their life stories and how their actions are leading to gender equality,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world.”
