Council is working with five other Councils in Tasmania on a bulk replacement program to change the current residential street lights (mostly mercury vapour) to more efficient LED lights.
This will create significant cost and energy savings for each Council and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, the new LED lights offer improved outcomes for the community, including greater uniformity of light across and along the street, lower glare and less depreciation of the light output over time.
The new street lights will begin to be installed week beginning 17 February 2020.
