Matriarch is an original and dynamic one-woman show celebrating the strength and resilience of four Gumbaynggirr women, spanning over 100 years of Australian history.
A hit show of Yirramboi Festival 2019, the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2018 and winner of a Green Room Award for best performance, Sandy Greenwood’s production vividly brings to life the matriarchs of her own family through a combination of drama, dance and music.
Matriarch explores cultural identity, the effects of intergenerational trauma and what it means to be a fair skin black woman in modern Australia.
Written and performed by Sandy Greenwood.
Matriarch will be followed by an ‘In Conversation’, hosted by Jacqueline Watkins.
Friday 14 February, 11am* and 7pm (60 mins plus 'In Conversations' 20 mins) *School group session
