Eurobodalla’s youth sector workers will gather this Thursday at a forum in Moruya to plan how they can support young people after the bushfires.

Council’s community development and participation manager Kim Bush has organised the forum, saying in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, there is a need for psychological first aid for all communities and specifically young people.

“We’ve invited everyone we know in the local youth sector to come together. That way we can collaboratively plan how best to support our young people as they process the fires,” Ms Bush said.

“We also extend an invitation to local organisations and anyone who works regularly with young people - teachers, Scouts, surf clubs, churches, service clubs. All are welcome.

“As a sector, if we can identify disaster recovery efforts put in place by agencies working in our shire, as well as other programs, resources and funding available, we’ll be much better placed to maximise the supports on offer for our youth.”
