Help shape the future of town entrance signage in our region

Sunraysia residents are invited to help shape how signage at the entrances to our towns looks.

Councillor for Community Development and Gender Equality Helen Healy said town entrance signage served several vital purposes.

“Town entrance signage helps visitors find their way around our region, letting them know they have arrived in a certain town,” Cr Healy said.

“Importantly, it also gives our communities in these towns a sense of identification and pride.

“It’s therefore essential that the signage greeting both locals and visitors to our towns is bold, eye-catching and unique.”

Residents can provide their input into the guidelines that determine how this signage looks by attending one of four community consultation sessions at the following locations.

Murrayville Post Office (pop-up session) Monday 2 March 10.30am – 12pm

Ouyen Service Centre (presentation/pop-up session) Monday 2 March 5pm – 7pm (pop-up session) 7pm – 7.30pm (Ouyen Inc. meeting)

Irymple – One Hub (pop-up session) Tuesday 3 March 11.30am – 1pm

Koorlong Store (pop-up session)\ Tuesday 3 March 8.30am – 10am

These sessions will allow residents to find out more about the process and ask any questions, as well as providing their thoughts and ideas on how town entrance signage should look.

The guidelines will be developed in consultation with the community, Council and VicRoads.

Cr Healy said once the guidelines are completed they will provide a valuable resource for communities wishing to change or add town entrance signage, where there is an identifiable need.
