Council is participating in the 2020 state-wide Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey, which will give Council a better understanding of the community’s views on a range of Council services and initiatives.

Maroondah Mayor Cr Mike Symon said the annual survey would allow Council to see where it is doing well in the community and areas it could improve.

“The Community Satisfaction Survey is being conducted by phone throughout February and March and will involve a minimum of 400 Maroondah residents and ratepayers being randomly selected to provide feedback.

“The survey is designed to assess Council’s performance against a range of measures to identify ways to provide improvement and more effective service delivery to residents,” he said.

Cr Symon said the State Government had engaged independent market research agency JWS Research to conduct the survey, so residents should feel comfortable in taking part if they are contacted.

“We would encourage those who are contacted to complete the survey by providing their views on Council’s performance over the past 12 months. This will provide important and valuable insight as to how well residents feel Council is performing. Details and individual responses are kept confidential, and only overall results are shared with Council,” he said.

The survey is used to collect feedback about on a range of topics including:

Council’s overall performance community consultation and engagement advocacy - lobbying on behalf of the community making community decisions sealed local roads customer service overall Council direction.

“The survey is an interesting benchmarking exercise, as our performance will be compared against other metropolitan Councils, such as Banyule, Bayside, Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Stonnington and Whitehorse,” Cr Symon said.

“The 2019 survey results were very pleasing, with Council’s overall performance and customer service rating at their highest levels since tracking began in 2012,” he said.

The survey results will be made available to Council and the community in mid-2020.

The annual survey is conducted by the Victorian Government's Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on behalf of participating Councils.
