Ferris Wheel eyes longer return

The Reef Eye Ferris Wheel could return to the Cairns Esplanade as early as June this year.

Council will invite Westshell Pty Ltd to bring its 35-metre high travelling Ferris Wheel back to the Cairns from June for a possible eight-month stay.

It follows the success of the Ferris Wheel’s three month trial from September to November 2019, which resulted in over 65,000 rides.

The attraction help to bring people into the city, with 43 per cent of users identifying as residents in the Cairns Regional Council area.

During the trial period, a number of activations and collaborations with businesses and organisations were undertaken in conjunction with the Ferris Wheel operation.
