Gannawarra Shire Council residents are encouraged to have their say on how Council engages with them.
Council is starting to formulate its Community Engagement Strategy 2020-2025, which will outline how Council communicates, consults and engages with the community during the next five years.
“Council’s role is to represent and provide services to the community, and this can only be achieved if it effectively communicates and engages by responding to the needs of the community and other stakeholders,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Effective engagement allows Council to collect information and feedback which can assist in decision making. It also means the community is involved in Council’s decisions and processes, offering residents an opportunity to shape and influence projects, services and future direction.”
To assist with the development of the strategy, residents are encouraged to complete a 10-minute survey that asks how people receive information from Council, how people communicate with Council and what information people would like to receive from Council.
Copies of the survey are available from Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna and Kerang, Gannawarra Library Service branches and online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X8Y7PRP between 14 February and 13 March.
Community listening posts will be held during on the following dates:
Thursday, 27 February – outside UNA IGA, Cohuna (12 noon-1pm); Thursday, 5 March - Outside the Kerang Council Chambers (10am-11am); and Thursday, 12 March – Outside the Koondrook Post Office (8.30am-9.30am).“All feedback received will assist with the development of the draft version of the Community Engagement Strategy 2020-2025, which will be presented to Council in the coming months and placed on public display for comment,” Mayor Learmonth said.
