Adventure trail experts Dirt Art say the adventure hub at Mogo is about new mountain bike trails for local riders and unique experiences for riders visiting the region.

The appointment of Dirt Art to develop the Mogo Adventure Trail Hub masterplan kicked off stage two of the project this week. Previous work by the industry leaders includes the Illawarra Escarpment Mountain Bike Project and Tasmania’s George Town MTB Project.

Dirt Art managing director Simon French said his team were keen to map out the new recreation and tourism opportunity for the village after the fires.

“You can expect a forward looking plan with new trails for local riders and a number of high-quality trail experiences to attract visiting riders to Mogo.” Mr French said.

Stage one of the project involved stakeholder workshops that identified issues and opportunities for the Adventure Trail Hub, last August. Stage two will lay out the trail network – around Mogo village, Deep Creek Dam, and surrounds – in detail, and the infrastructure and facilities needed to open up event opportunities and encourage more visitors to the region.

Council’s director of planning Lindsay Usher said the establishment of a trail network would help drive new economic opportunities in the area.

“Mogo was devastated in the bushfires. The Adventure Trail Hub will be an important part of the recovery process for the village and for growing Eurobodalla’s visitor economy,” he said.

“Now, with undergrowth burnt away allowing clear sightlines, it’ll be easier to identify the best routes to ensure the best possible trail network.”

The Mogo Adventure Trail Hub is funded by the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
