Do you know someone who has helped enrich our heritage? Then nominate them for the 2020 John Reid Heritage Awards.
The award recognises people who have made a significant contribution to the heritage of Broken Hill either as a volunteer or as part of paid employment.
The Hon. Simon R. Molesworth AO QC, Liz Vines OAM, and Peter Oldsen shared the top honour at last year's ceremony, with each receiving an Outstanding Commendation.
The trio were key figures in the push to secure the city's National Heritage Listing in 2015.
Mayor Darriea Turley AM said locals could nominate recipients for a range of heritage-related activities.
"Our city's rich heritage is so expansive, and many people have made contributions in different ways," she said.
"From retaining the historic charm of our infrastructure to working to enrich the fabric of Broken Hill, it all helps build and preserve our heritage.
"Be sure to nominate anyone who you believe has made a significant contribution."
Nomination forms and tickets to the awards ceremony can be found here. Submissions close 5pm, 20 March 2020.
This year's event will be held at The Old Brewery and hosted by Andrew Schmidt.
The night will feature fine dining, a yarn or two and the opportunity to catch up with many and old and new friends. $70 ticket price includes canapes on arrival and two-course sit down dinner.
The awards are just one of many events being held as part of this year’s Heritage Festival. Full details on the festival can be found here.
