Have your say on Blackheath village centre enhancements

Council has $3.3 million to spend on upgrades to Blackheath village centre. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve the liveability and accessibility of this popular Blue Mountains village. 

The project has been made possible by funding through the Western Parkland City Liveability Program (which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal) and the Building Better Regions Fund. 

The proposed upgrade at Blackheath is one of ten projects valued at more than $18.7 million that will be completed across Blue Mountains City over the next three years. These will provide a welcome boost to community infrastructure and public spaces.

The vision for the Blackheath village centre improvements are outlined in the Blackheath Village Centre Public Domain Masterplan, which was endorsed by the community and Council in September 2017. 

Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “It’s wonderful to be able to start to bring to fruition the vision for Blackheath village centre, through this grant funding.

“We are engaging with the community throughout February, to get their feedback on how we will commence this upgrade.”

Every household in Blackheath have had a survey mailed to their house. Surveys can be submitted to Council until 2 March 2020. Drop-in sessions are also being held on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February 2020 at the Bates Hall (small front room) at the Community Hall, in Blackheath.

As identified in the Masterplan, the Blackheath Pedestrian and Traffic Study Future Modelling Report was undertaken and presented to Councillors in January 2020. The community consultation includes the results of that report.
