19 February 2020 - Media release
With registrations now open for the 2020 Clean Up Australia Day, it’s time to check out your local rubbish hotspots and challenge your neighbours, work colleagues, friends and family to get out and tidy up.
Registered Community Clean Up events will take place in Campaspe Shire from Wednesday, 26 February to Sunday, 1 March
Campaspe Shire Council Regulatory & Community Services General Manager, Paul McKenzie said these events are all great opportunities to show your community pride by cleaning up our local parks, bushland and waterways.
“Eight million tonnes of plastic enter Earth’s oceans each year, with much of this washed in via rivers and waterways,” Mr McKenzie said.
“Litter carelessly thrown away by a small minority of people damages the health of our native flora and fauna and spoils the visual appeal of our beautiful region.”
“Council is proud to once again team up with Bunnings Echuca and Vivid to host a special Business Clean Up Day on Friday, 28 February at the Aquatic Reserve and the surrounding area in Echuca.”
“Everyone is welcome to join the Community Clean Up Days, running in Rochester, Kyabram, Echuca, Wharparilla, Rushworth and Stanhope from Wednesday, 26 February to Sunday, 1 March. Alternatively, people can go to www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au and register their own locations.”
