Mayor, Cr Janet Pearce has been appointed to the 2020 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel (LGMAP).
The role of the panel is to provide high level advice to the Minister for Local Government, Adem Somyurek, on a range of legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy decisions which impact on local government. The panel comprises 15 Mayors from all around the state and meets four times each year.
Cr Pearce said it was a great honour to be appointed to this important panel, which brings together mayors from a variety of municipalities from all around the state.
“It is great to see the diversity on the panel, not only in terms of location but in the broad range of experience and backgrounds of the mayors participating,” Cr Pearce said.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Macedon Ranges Shire to have a voice at the state government level, for mayors from across the state to work together towards a common goal and to build on
existing partnerships and be strong advocates for our communities”.
“It will be a chance not only to impart knowledge and experience, but to listen, learn and share”.
A West Ward Councillor, Cr Pearce was elected to Council in 2016 and is in her second consecutive year as Mayor.
The first meeting of the LGMAP is scheduled for 26 February.
