Re-aligned boundary at Cheltenham Station
Bayside City Council 19 Feb 2020

Bayside City Council has worked closely with Kingston City Council to sensibly re-align the municipal boundary currently running through the middle of the train tracks at Cheltenham station. Bayside has agreed to allow Kingston to move the boundary over the railway trench, being built as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project, slightly to the west.

In compensation for this land exchange, Bayside will receive a $35,000 open space contribution that will be re-directed for the upkeep and preservation of Cheltenham Park.

There are currently no plans for Kingston City Council to develop the land above the rail trench although an application would be in keeping with the State Planning Scheme which supports development near transport hubs and Bayside’s Residential Strategic Framework Plan which identifies the area around the train station a moderate residential growth area. Bayside will have input into any future development applications and will advocate for an attractive and sensitive development. This area does not affect any residents as it overlooks Cheltenham Park.
