The much-beloved holiday haven on the shores of Pittwater, Currawong, is about to receive a facelift that will see three holiday cabins, the games room, paths and landscaping improved.
Work starts on 17 February and will run through the year with plans to unveil the works in time to welcome guests next summer.
The important restoration and improvement works will ensure Currawong retains its heritage value and remains a family-friendly venue for years to come. The Currawong Beach Cottages and the pathway accessing these cottages will be closed and guest access will be limited to the wharf and recreation areas along the foreshore.
Currawong managers Anna and Roger are helping guests and contractors throughout this time. Accommodation at Midholme (also known as the ‘big house’) and the Caretaker’s Cottage is unaffected and open to guests. Day-trippers are also welcome off the ferry and via private vessels.
“It’s going to be a different and exciting year,” says Anna. “We are used to being busy with guests in nine cottages, as well as the larger venues, but this year we will be busy ensuring guests and visitors can still enjoy the peace and serenity of this special spot while these important works are done.
“We can’t wait for our guests to see the new and improved Currawong towards the end of this year,” she said.
Guests and visitors should be aware that work will be taking place during the day, from Monday to Friday, across the site. Contractors and materials will arrive by water and be unloaded via the wharves and beachfront at various times.
