Seven community projects throughout the Gannawarra will share in $257,107 from Council’s Major Community Projects Fund.
Community groups and organisations were eligible to apply for between $10,000 and $125,000 of support from Council to develop infrastructure projects on non-Council owned or controlled land, with funding preference given to projects that have confirmed funding from external grants, or other sources, and/or an in-kind donation.
“Council was pleased to receive 21 applications for funding, with a total request from the fund of $771,934,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Priority was given to projects identified within the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan 2017-2021 and individual Community Profiles outlined in this document, as well as other Council strategies, such as the Gannawarra Shire Council Sport & Recreation Strategy 2019-29, which would contribute to the municipality and support Council’s vision to build upon our strengths of people, place and pride to inspire a positive future together.”
The projects that have received funding are:
Lake Charm District Waterway Master Plan ($86,100); Cohuna Golf Club solar connection extensions and upgrades to water systems ($65,506.80) Murrabit Golf Club clubhouse refurbishment ($32,000); Koondrook Swimming Pool solar panel installation ($24,700); Kerang Golf Bowls Club shade structure redevelopment ($21,850); Murrabit Men’s Shed extension, solar and rainwater harvesting project ($15,950); and Wandella Recreation Reserve electrical upgrade ($11,000).“Council will also allocate $82,500 from its 2020/21 Draft Budget as matching funding to support a funding application to Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Local Sport Infrastructure Program for improvements to female friendly facilities at the Murrabit Recreation Reserve,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Council thanks all community groups and organisations which took the time to apply for this funding and congratulates those groups whose applications were successful.”
