Partnership to provide residents with free and trustworthy home energy advice

A new partnership between Frankston City Council and the Australian Energy Foundation (AEF) means local residents can access free energy advice and vetted solar suppliers.

Frankston City Council Mayor, Sandra Mayer, said those wishing to install solar panels were often deterred by the complexity of finding a quality system and installer.

“This partnership will make it easier for residents to take up solar power and do their part in responding to the climate emergency,” Cr Mayer said.

The AEF will also provide free advice to help residents improve their home’s energy efficiency.

Advisors can refer locals to reliable and trusted suppliers for solar power and battery storage, insulation, draught proofing, LED lighting, heating and cooling, and window treatments.

“Even making small changes to improve your home’s energy efficiency can save you money and help the environment,” Cr Mayer said.

Australian Energy Foundation CEO, Alison Rowe, said since launching the program in 2013, AEF had supported 27,000 households with energy advice.

“We are delighted to have Frankston City Council on board and look forward to supporting their residents with our energy advice services,” Ms Rowe said.

“Declaring a climate emergency is a big step for councils to take, and this partnership will help Frankston accelerate the uptake of energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives in their community and transition to zero net emissions.”

To celebrate the launch of this great partnership, Frankston City Council and the AEF are offering three lucky residents a free home energy assessment valued up to $500.

Frankston City residents who phone, email or mail the AEF for home energy advice between 9am Monday 24 February and 5pm Friday 24 April 2020 will be automatically entered into the competition.
