There’s no better time of year than Clean Up Australia Day to come together as a community, don a pair of gloves and clean up litter from our beautiful beaches, waterways and parks.

Last year’s event was inspiring with people helping to clean up 88 separate sites across the Northern Beaches, including 41 sites in the general community, 15 sites cleaned by youth groups, 8 businesses caring for their local areas and 24 schools participating.

Single-use plastics including straws and cutlery were widespread items removed from our environment, and more unusual items included mattresses, chairs and a boat.

Let’s make this year even bigger! Registrations are now open to register a site or volunteer at a registered Northern Beaches site near you.

There are three Clean Up Australia Day events so if you’re a business owner, teacher or school student, there’s an opportunity for you to get involved:

Over the last 30 years, Clean Up Australia Day volunteers have donated more than 35 million hours, at over 181,000 locations across the country. Together they have removed the equivalent of 365,000 tonnes of rubbish across Australia.
