WENDY TUCKERMAN: Yass Valley Stronger

Constituents of the Yass Valley Shire will be able to enjoy improved community infrastructure thanks to grant funding for multiple projects from the NSW Government, announced today by Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman MP.

Mrs Tuckerman said the NSW Government’s significant $410,769 investment will assist construction and completion of three community infrastructure projects in the Yass area.

A total of $275,045 has been allocated to the Murrumbateman Recreation Ground Amenities upgrade, an opportunity to develop youth-related recreational activities across multiple sporting codes.

Murrumbateman Recreation Grounds Tennis Courts will also be the recipients of an $80,000 Lighting Upgrade.

“Improved amenities will give Murrumbateman the opportunity to develop youth engagement across multiple sporting codes with new change rooms, toilets, canteen, storage room and disabled amenities.” Mrs Tuckerman said.

The recreational grounds support a range of community groups that includes a tennis club. The upgrade of lighting to support tennis events day and night – including social tennis, coaching and tournaments,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Another $55,724 has been awarded to Gundaroo Park Playground for a Shade and Sustainable Power Project.

“Gundaroo Park Playground will receive installation of a battery storage solar power system with the panels incorporated into a new structure that doubles as a shade over the Park playground,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with regional communities set to benefit from more than 550 new projects.

To date, rounds one and two of the program have funded more than 1,000 projects. “Locals across regional NSW are seeing the benefits of rounds one and two of the Fund, with projects making a big difference to everyday life, from new playgrounds loved by kids to light towers illuminating sporting fields,” Mr Barilaro said.

“We are funding grassroots projects that make a real difference to each community, and we know how important it is to support our regional towns with new infrastructure and programs.”

The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
