Join Council in helping to Clean Up Australia

One of Mildura’s more popular walking tracks will receive some special treatment this weekend as the focus of Council’s 2020 Clean Up Australia Day event.

This year’s event will concentrate on the area between the Mildura Station Homestead and Apex Park and kick off from the homestead at 9am this Sunday 1 March.

Councillor for Environment and Farming Sustainability Anthony Cirillo said it was an opportunity for residents to get active and enjoy one of our city’s popular walking paths, all the while helping the environment.

Participants will meet at the cottage in the Mildura Station Homestead grounds before setting off, picking up litter along the walking path and surrounding area as they make their way to Apex Park, returning to the cottage for light refreshments about 10am.

Registered volunteers will receive a free pair of gloves and Clean Up Australia Day bags to collect rubbish and recyclables along the walking path.

People can pre-register by visiting www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/join-a-clean-up and searching for Mildura, or clicking on the Mildura event on the interactive map.

Alternatively, residents can register on the day.

Cr Cirillo said Clean Up Australia Day events had proven a fantastic community initiative.

“While the purpose of these events is to clean up prominent public areas, based on previous Clean Up Australia Day events in Mildura they’ve also shown to be a great way for like-minded residents to come together and stay active,” he said.

Sunraysia residents who can’t make it to Council’s Clean Up Australia Day event can visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au to see if there are other events near them.
