Bayside school students can win $500 in this year’s Ellen Jose awards program celebrating Reconciliation.
The awards honour the life of Torres Strait Elder and long-time Bayside resident Ellen Jose, who passed away in 2017. This is the second year of the program.
Entrants are asked to interpret "What Reconciliation means through their eyes" in their artwork or writing piece.
Entries close 5pm Friday 4 May.
Award categoriesPrimary school students are invited to create an artwork interpreting "What Reconciliation means through their eyes".
Secondary school students are invited to write an essay or poem interpreting "What Reconciliation means through their eyes".
Two $500 prizes will be awarded in each category.
Now in their second year, the awards reflect Ellen Jose’s inspirational commitment to building awareness of reconciliation in Bayside and beyond.
Awards ceremonyThe top ten artworks and the top ten writing pieces will be displayed at the Bayside Corporate Centre, 76 Royal Avenue Sandringham from 19 May to 20 July.
Finalists will be invited to attend the Bayside Flag Raising Ceremony during National Reconciliation Week on Saturday, 23 May 2020 at 9.30am at the Corporate Centre, when winners will be announced.
